The Powerful Tool You Need To Improve Your Life - A Vision Board

Visualisation isn't a new concept, in the field of sport has been extensively applied after the 1984 Olympics, when specialists asserted that Olympians who had used visualisation techniques reported a positive impact on their performance and biological outcomes (Newmark, 2012).

Vision boarding is a creative process that helps you get clear on your goals, desires and motivate yourself to bring them to life. Whether you create yours by yourself, with friends or in one of our workshops, it can be a fun activity that has the potential to improve your both your happiness, health and general wellbeing.

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is basically a physical representation of your end goals. It's one of the most powerful ways to use the Law of Attraction to help you achieve your real (not your families, friends or society's) dreams.

It's more than just cutting out magazine pictures and words, sticking them down on a board, and hoping for the best. It's a powerful visualisation tool that through the power of choice helps you narrow down desires. You can set clear goals and intentions, but it's the Law of Attraction that opens your mind up to notice the opportunities you need to turn these dreams of yours into reality.

It's all about levelling up your mindset to meet the expectations of the life you desire. But how exactly? Let's look at three powers that in play during your vision board creation process.

The power of personalisation

Personalisation is key for making your board truly yours. You should first start with identifying your desires. Really focus in on what you truly want. Then select images that represent those desires. The simple selection process narrows down your focus and personalises your board with specific messages that matter to you.

For example, don't just find an image of a car you like. Stick down the car that you want, or the place where you want to drive your car, or the feeling that driving the car will give. By going deeper and deeper with this exercise you will create a very specific and personalised message to your mind.

The power of visualisation

Without a doubt, it is the visual aspect of a vision board that really solidifies your desires and sends a very clear message. To understand why visualising your desires is so powerful, we need to take a look at the brain.

Visualisation is powerful because the mind's subconscious, by firing those neurons that are responsible for skill acquisition, processes the experience as a real one. By visualising yourself as a CEO, focusing on the related five senses (touch, hearing, sight, smell and taste), your brain is training for that reality. In fact, in one neuropsychology study, researchers found that the mental training of the physical exercise was almost as effective as the actual physical practice.

It's important to note that visualisation is effective if mental images are full of colour, realistic, involve appropriate emotions and are controllable (LeUnes, 2008). That's why our Morning Mindset journal asks you to write down your feelings from your vision board, so that you tap into the related emotions.

The power of habits

If you want to learn a new skill, change your lifestyle, consistent habits are key. We’re wired for repetition. Every time we repeat an action, activated neurons build a stronger connection, which explains how any skill can become automatic.

It’s not enough to just create a board and leave it to gather dust under your bed. It's important to choose an accessible place to view your board each day. By creating a daily habit of visualisation you train your mind and body to manifest your desires.
